The four Shigeo Nagashima sequential batting cards from the JCM 30a Doyusha Team Name Back menko set are among the most sought after cards of Mr. Giants. Nagashima's arrival was one of the most highly anticipated events in Japan Pro Baseball history. Nagashima had rewritten the record book at Rikkio University, and it was expected (rightly so) that he would become one of Japanese baseball's all time greats. As a result, many different rookie cards of Nagashima were printed. However, only the JCM 30a cards captured the entirety of the famous Nagashima swing. This lot is unusual in that the four sequential swing cards are offered in uncut pairs, undoubtedly 3rd prize winner cards from a product display sheet. The number two card features Nagashima paired with Japan's all time greatest catcher, Katsuya Nomura (HOF). The number three card pairs Nagashima with Hawaiian Stanley Hashimoto. The number four card is attached to a card of Giants HOFer Noboru Aota. The number one card shows Nagashima with Lions pitcher Shimabara. Certainly, this is a unique presentation of a very desirable series of Nagashima rookie cards.

Size: Each card is 1 13/16" x 3". Each uncut pair is 3 5/8" x 3".

Condition: All cards are Mint but have minor glue marks and a minor amount of additional paper on the back due to originally having been attached to a display sheet. All tobacco type menko cards found in uncut pairs from any issue possess this characteristic, and as a result, these cards are considered to be Mint as issued.
