Following the 1955 season, the New York Yankees toured Japan, playing 16 games, winning 15, with one ten inning tie. Yankees who played on the Tour included Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Billy Martin. The Japanese contingent included Tetsuharu Kawakami, Masaichi Kaneda and Hiroshi Oshita.

This enameled tie bar containing the Yankees team logo was most likely presented to a player or dignitary from the Tour. On the back, the inscription states that the tie bar commemorates the Tour, and also includes the name of the Tour's sponsoring newspaper (Yomiuri Shimbun). This is only the third such tie bar that we have had the pleasure to auction throughout our 38 years in business. This example is the highest graded specimen of the three.
