This large size, super attractive presentation photo album contains 24 professional quality large black & white photos, including a few giant foldout images. The album was produced by the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, and was presented to a Japanese dignitary involved with this Tour. The photos include members of both the Japanese all-star team and the U.S. Major League All Stars team.
U.S. players on the Tour include Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Early Wynn and Bob Lemon. The team also included Billy Martin, Ed Lopat, Bobby Shantz, Dom DiMaggio and Mel Parnell. The team was managed by Lefty O'Doul. The All Japan Team included a stellar cast of HOFers: Tetsuharu Kawakami, Masaichi Kaneda, Noboru Aota, Takehiko Bessho, Fumio Fujimura, Shigeru Chiba, Kazuto Tsuruoka, Michio Nishizawa, Tokuji Iida, Shigeru Sugishita and Hideo Fujimoto. The U.S. team prevailed with a record of 13-1-2.
This is the first 1951 U.S. All Star Tour Presentation Album that we have ever offered! In order that you appreciate the scope, magnitude and condition of this presentation album, we have included a photo of each album page. The album is nearly pristine inside and out. The only major flaw is that one of the foldout images is stuck together. The winner of this lot will be the owner of a beautiful keepsake from a 75-year-old event.
