On June 30, 1963, Masaichi Kaneda recorded his 311th career victory, passing Takehiko Bessho who had held the most lifetime pitching victories record at the time. In honor of that feat, Kaneda wrote 311 wins in Japanese above his signature in Japanese kanji. Kaneda, a left handed pitcher, went on to record 400 wins during his illustrious career. It is a Japan Pro Baseball record that may stand forever. While the signed item looks like a formal traditional Japanese autograph board (shikishi), it is actually a piece of cardboard.
