The 1955 Mainichi Orions, piloted by the great Kaoru Betto (HOF) finished only third in the Pacific League, despite a glittering .607 winning percentage. Several Orions had outstanding seasons. Future Hall of Famer, Kihachi Enomoto, won the Pacific League Rookie of the Year award. HOFer Kazuhiro Yamauchi led the league in RBIs and doubles, while finishing second in batting average and homers. HOFer Atsushi Aramaki went 18-12, 2.35.
