Koichi Tabuchi (left) and Yutaka Enatsu (right) were known as the "Golden Battery" with the Hanshin Tigers. Tabuchi, a catcher, clubbed 474 homers in his career, was Rookie of the Year in 1968, won Golden Gloves, Best Nine awards, home run titles, etc. Enatsu was voted starting pitcher on the Century's Best 9 team, meaning that he was considered to be the best Japanese pitcher of the 20th century. In 1968, he recorded 401 strikeouts for the season. He was MVP in each league. However the lefthander was one of the most enigmatic players in the history of Japanese baseball. He associated with gangsters, had drug abuse problems, slept during practices and smoked non-stop when not on the field. This is the reason why Enatsu is not in the Japan Hall of Fame. In an era when team changes were not commonplace, Enatsu played for five different teams, during which time he managed 206 wins and 193 saves.

It's difficult to submit a 1970s Calbee card and get a high grade, as the corners are easily chipped, and centering problems abound, especially on the back of the card. The card being auctioned here was recently removed from a 1973 Calbee pack. It received the grade of PSA 9 (Mint) and is the only card #331 graded at this level, with none higher. It is a scarce card, as it is part of the 10th and final series in the 372 card set. 10th series cards were not printed in as large a quantity as cards from most of the other series.
