The newly published Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, 2nd Vintage Edition has assigned a scarcity factor of R5 to cards from this rare set, signifying that five or fewer examples of each card are known. Fronts contain a colored circle in the center on which is superimposed a cutout player action image. The Japanese symbol for “word” is found in a red circle at left next to the text “awase card”. At lower right is one of various symbols in which a Japanese word is printed in contrasting text. Tan background backs contain a list of possible prizes to be redeemed. One prize is a Giants facsimile autographed tenegui (cloth) which also appears in this auction (Lot 120), and is known to date from 1953--thus the estimated date for the set. Also, the requirement to have five cards to redeem the prize indicates that there may be a fifth card in the set, although to date only these four have been discovered. As per usual with Kobai Caramel cards, all feature Yomiuri Giants players. Top row (left to right) Takehiko Bessho (HOF), Tetsuharu Kawakami (HOF), bottom row (left to right) Saburo Hirai, Jun Hirota (Hawaii). This is truly a rare grouping.

Size: Each card is 1 5/8" x 2 1/4".

Condition: Good to Vg/Ex. Average--Vg.
