This metal badge with an enameled front surface was worn by a dignitary during the 1954 All Star Series. We have never before seen a 1954 All Star Series badge. The horizontal bar on the back below the pin is an indication that this badge originally included a ribbon.
Two games were played between the Pacific League and Central League All Stars in 1954, with the Pacific League prevailing 5-2 in the game of 7/3/54. Sadaaki Nishimura was the winning pitcher, and Ryohei Hasegawa (HOF) was the losing pitcher. Hall of Famers Fumio Fujimura, Kazuhiro Yamauchi and Futoshi Nakanishi all homered in the game. Nakanishi was named game MVP. The second game was played the next day, with the Pacific League again victorious (2-1 in 10 innings). Fumio Tanaka was the winning pitcher, and Hall of Famer Masaichi Kaneda took the loss. There were no homers. Kazuhisa Yamauchi was game MVP.
