The Japan Women's Pro Baseball League was formed in 1950. However, after two seasons, it became a non-professional league. The league lasted until 1967. The Sankyo team was a charter member of the league. From 1958 to 1961 Sankyo won the league championship each year. The Hakugen team joined the league in 1956 and were champions in 1957.

This poster was an advertisement for games between Sankyo and Hakugen to be played on September 15 and 16 at 9:00 a.m. at Hibarigaoka Stadium. Because of the start times, we assume that the games were played on a Saturday and Sunday. If true, the only possible years that the games could have been played were 1956 and 1962. The poster could have been produced in either of these two years. The style of the graphics leads us to the conclusion that 1956 is more likely, but we are not certain. In any case, this item is a wonderful memento for anyone interested in women's baseball.

Size: 20 1/4" x 28 1/4"

Condition: There is a small missing piece in the lower right corner. Some crinkling and wear. The original fold lines are still visible. There is much Japanese handwritten text, unrelated to baseball, on the otherwise blank back.
