This is the first time we have ever been able to offer an example of this truly scarce card at auction. JGA 33 cards were issued in uncut sheets inserted into the January 1953 issue of Yakyu Shonen Magazine. Cards from this set are seldom seen today.
Britton was loaned by Bill Veeck's St. Louis Browns to the Hankyu Braves in 1952. He played two seasons for the Braves making the All-Star team in his first season. He batted a robust .293 during his time in Japan. Britton also was a member of Negro League teams that played in Canada in 1950-51.
Only a few different cards of John Britton were ever produced, and this is one of the scarcest.
Size: 1 3/8" x 1 5/8"
Condition: Would be Ex/Mt, except for a horizontal stain across the card which was probably caused by a rubber band. As a result, the card grades only fair to good.
