The 1952 JGA 38 Osato Gangu Color Cards are orders of magnitude scarcer than the 1951 black & white issue. No more than three or four copies of each card found in the set are known. One unusual characteristic of JGA 38 is that it includes cards of Japan Pro Baseball umpires. Cards depicting Japanese umpires are quite scarce.

The 1952 Osato Gangu is the only card ever produced of Shoichi Kunitomo. Kunitomo (1910-1981) umpired in 2,675 Central League games from 1946 to 1968, including four All Star Games and three Japan Series. He was most famous as an early proponent of the inside chest protector. Prior to his career as an umpire, he was a first baseman/outfielder for Rikkio University of the Tokyo Big Six University League in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Takayoshi Sumida, born in Hiroshima, was a star third baseman for Meiji U. of the Japan Big Six University League in the late 1920s. He later became a Big Six University League umpire. From 1950 to 1965, he was a Japan Pro Baseball umpire, operating in the Pacific League. He retired after having umpired more than 1,500 Japan Pro Baseball Games. JGA 38 is one of only a few cards produced depicting Sumida. This is a rare opportunity to obtain his card.

Both cards have been encapsulated and graded by PSA.

Blank back cards.
