This card is part of a deck consisting of 54 playing cards, including seven cards that feature baseball players. The set was discovered just recently, and will be included for the first time in the next edition of Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide. At this point, we do not know who manufactured the cards, but we think they were issued in 1963. One of the seven players included in the card deck is all time great pitcher, Masaichi Kaneda.

Masaichi Kaneda was at the top of his game in 1963. He enjoyed his second and final 30 win season, going 30-17 with a 1.93 ERA. He also led the Central League in strikeouts for the ninth time that year, fanning 287 batters.
