This is the first time we have ever
offered a program from the Detroit Tigers 1962 Tour of Japan. The program appears to have been prepared for
first use at the first game of the tour, played at Tokyo Stadium. The Tigers pounded the Mainichi Orions 12-1 before
27,000 spectators. The Tigers played 18
games against various Japan Pro Baseball opposition. They finished the tour with a 12-4-2 won loss
record.
This 16-page program, printed in
Japanese, contains photos of many Detroit Tigers players including Al Kaline,
Norm Cash, Rocky Colavito, Phil Regan, Paul Foytack, Don Mossi, etc. There is also a schedule of games to be
played, a Tigers team roster and an unused scorecard. Ultimately, three games were played at Tokyo
Stadium, and rosters for each of the three Tigers opponents are also
printed. In the third game played at
Tokyo Stadium, Sadaharu Oh homered.
