Japan Pro Baseball teams traditionally have played various neutral site league games around the country. On August 13, 1955, the Kokutetsu Swallows played the Taiyo Whales at Koriyama Stadium in Fukushima. The two Central League teams finished at the bottom of the Central League standings that season, with the Whales ending up with only a .238 winning percentage. The game in question was won by the Swallows by a score of 4-2.

This large poster is an advertisement for the game. At the top, the date (8/13) and time of the game (2 p.m.) are printed. The two team names and "Central League" are found, along with "Koriyama Stadium" and prices for advance sale tickets and day of sale tickets. "Asahi Mutual Life Insurance" is printed in the oval at right. At the bottom, it states that the game is sponsored by the Japan National Railway, who were owners of the Swallows team at that time.

We rarely see vintage game advertising posters like this one, most probably because of their flimsy nature and the lack of a reason for saving them at the time.

Size: 20" x 29"

Condition: Damage along the edges from tape originally used to mount the poster. A few edge tears.
