The scarce Jintan Gum sets (JF 8 and JF 9) are highly prized by collectors, in part for their whimsical, chewing gum stick shape. The cards were sold in packages about the size of the traditional Wrigleys five pack. Each package contained one baseball card, along with the individually wrapped pieces of gum, hence the unusual shape.

Junzo Sekine was a Japan Hall of Famer as a pitcher, outfielder, manager and commentator. His entire 16 year career as an active player was spent with the usually lowly Kintetsu Buffaloes (previously Kintetsu Pearls), where he won 65 games and had 1,137 hits. The slight (5' 7", 145 lb.) lefthander gained his greatest recent fame as an analyst on Japan Pro Baseball television programs.
