We have not seen this very large baseball card until now. It was undoubtedly originally a second prize winner card on a display sheet. It depicts Tetsuharu Kawakami, the greatest hitter of the 1940s and 50s, at the end of a mammoth swing.

Kawakami played for the Yomiuri Giants from 1938 to 1958. During that time, he won three league MVP awards, and was selected to the Best 9 team in 10 different seasons. He also played on 13 championship teams. Kawakami's managerial career was equally impressive, as his Giants won 11 pennants during his 14 years as manager, including an incredible nine consecutive Japan Series championships. Blank backed card.

Size: 6 1/8" x 4"

Condition: G/Vg. There is a pinhole near the upper left border. There is also paper and glue residue on the blank back, as the card was originally offered on a display sheet, as would be the case for all copies of this card.
