This is one of the earliest prize winner cards from a display sheet that we have seen. It was most likely a second prize winner card. The God of Batting is seen here wielding a very large first baseman's mitt. We are not certain as to whether this is a rookie card or second year card of the great left handed batter.
1947 was a down year for Tetsuharu Kawakami, but he did manage to bat .309. All statistics were depressed that season, as the livelier ball was still a couple years away from its introduction to Japan.
