The Nissui Company was originally established as a fishing company over a century ago. At first, Nissui specialized in seafood products, but later branched out into many types of food which are still sold in Japan today. One of their products was the Nissui American hot dog. Who was chosen to be one of the product's endorsers? That good ole American, Sadaharu Oh!
Oh's portrait and facsimile autograph appear on the plate on offer here, with his name and his team's name printed just to the right of his face. The portrait is framed at the bottom with the Nissui logo and the Japanese text, "Nissui American Hot Dog". The plate is made of polypropylene and appears to be unused. In our last auction, we sold the first such plate featuring Shigeo Nagashima known to the hobby. Now we've found the first ever seen Sadaharu Oh companion plate!
Size: 5 1/2" in diameter. 1 oz.
Condition: Would be Nm/Mt unused but for a tiny pin hole near the bottom.
