We are not certain as to whether this card was a first prize premium on a display sheet for the JBR 51 set or one of the JBR 52 sets. We do know that we have never seen an example of this card before.
Hiroshi Nakao's lifetime statistics make it clear as to why he is in the Hall of Fame--209 wins, 127 losses, 2.48 ERA. He threw 43 shutouts among 184 complete games and held opposing hitters to a .216 batting average. Surprisingly, the left hander, despite his otherwise dazzling statistics, had a penchant for wildness. During his career, he walked nearly five batters per nine innings pitched--more than he struck out! Thus, he was the epitome of a wild lefty.
This blank backed card features a gorgeous color image of Nakao, immediately after having unleashed one of his patented tosses.
