Based on the uniform that Aota is wearing, we know that the card was issued between 1948 and 1950, but we are not sure as to the exact year. This uncatalogued card was most likely a second prize winner card issued on a display sheet. This is only the third time that we have ever seen this card.

Noboru Aota, an outfielder, was a five time league home run champion, six time all-star and five time Best 9 award winner. HIs glory years were spent with the Yomiuri Giants. A hard partier, fighter and gambler, Aota had a relatively short career, retiring at age 34 after several ordinary seasons. It is said that his purported gambling activities delayed his induction into the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame for many years. Blank backed card.

Size: 5 7/8" x 7"

Condition: The blank back exhibits some staining and signs of previous attachment to a display sheet as issued. Overall Ex.
