This card was part of a three card set of bromide baseball cards distributed in the February 1931 issue of Yakyukai magazine. Osamu Mihara was a star second baseman for Waseda University in the late 1920s and early 1930s. In 1934 he played against Ruth, Gehrig, et al during their Japan Tour. Mihara became a manager in 1947. In 1949, he led the Giants to one of their greatest seasons ever. Later, as manager of the Nishitetsu Lions, Mihara won three straight Japan Series titles. He then moved on to the Taiyo Whales, where he won another championship.
