This is one of only three examples of the 1952 Osato Gangu card of Hiroshi Nakao in existence, and is the highest grade example. Nakao's lifetime statistics make it clear why he is in the Hall of Fame--209 wins, 127 losses, 2.48 ERA. He
threw 43 shutouts among 184 complete games and held opposing hitters to a .216 batting average. Surprisingly, the left hander, despite his otherwise dazzling statistics, had a penchant for wildness. During his career, he walked nearly
five batters per nine innings pitched--more than he struck out! Thus, he was the epitome of a wild lefty.
