Following the 1974 season, the New York Mets played 18 games in Japan against the Yomiuri Giants and various Japan Pro Baseball all star teams, compiling a record of 9 wins, 7 losses and 2 ties. The Mets had a star studded roster including Tom Seaver, Jon Matlack, Jerry Koosman, Joe Torre and manager Yogi Berra. Sadaharu Oh headed the Japanese contingent, and clubbed six round trippers during the series off of Mets pitching. The tie bar offered here in its original presentation box, was produced to commemorate the Tour. Produced for the Wako department store, the silver bar contains the inscriptions "Wako" and "silver" on the reverse, along with "1974 Japan-U.S. Baseball" (in Japanese), which is found under the clip. The front contains a handsome, New York Mets logo.

Size: The tie bar is 2 1/4" x 3/4". The presentation box is 3 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Condition: The tie bar and presentation box are both Nm/Mt.
