The Detroit Tigers toured Japan following the 1962 season, posting a 14-2-2 record against Japan Pro Baseball opposition. This buckle was given to members of the press. The back of the buckle is engraved with the inscription, "Japan U.S. baseball match--Mainichi Newspaper Co., 1962". The Mainichi Newspaper was the Tour's sponsor. The buckle and its surrounding original crepe paper are nestled in a wood box to which is affixed a paper cover with Japanese text including "Japan-U.S. baseball commemorative" and "Mainichi Newspaper Company".

Size: The buckle is 1 5/16" in diameter.

Condition: The buckle is Ex/Mt due to minor oxidation at the upper edge. The box is still solid, but there is staining on the paper covering the lid.
