26 members of the 1957 Central League Champions Yomiuri Giants autographed this traditional Japanese signing board. The most important signature on this shikishi is of Hall of Fame member Goro Taniguchi, who was a coach at the time. Taniguchi had been the ace of the Waseda U. pitching staff in the early 1920s, but never played or managed in Japan Pro Baseball. Thus, his signature is quite rare.
Here is the entire list of signatories: Wally Yonamine (HOF) (Hawaii) (d. 2011) signed in English in the lower right corner, clockwise from that spot, we have Masaaki Mori (HOF), Minoru Kakurai, Morimichi Iwashita, Masataka Tsuchiya, Shin Fujimoto, Yuko Minamimura, Andy Miyamoto (Hawaii), Hiroshi Nakao (HOF) (d.1977), Kazuhiko Sakazaki, Shigeru Fujio, Tetsuharu Kawakami (HOF) (d.2013), unknown, Hirofumi Naito, Keishi Totoki, Atsushi Horiuchi, Tatsuro Hirooka (HOF), Takumi Otomo, Tamotsu Uchibori, Takehiko Bessho (HOF) (d.1999), Goro Taniguchi (HOF) (d.1980), Motoshi Fujita (HOF) (d. 2006), Tatsuyoshi Yasuhara, Hideo Fujimoto (HOF), (d.1997) Takashi Iwamoto and Shigeru Chiba (HOF) (d.2002).
