Given the signatures on this traditional Japanese signing board, we cannot be sure as to whether the shikishi was signed in 1959 or 1960. Despite the yeoman efforts of Japan Hall of Famer, Masaichi Kaneda, who won 41 games with a 2.56 ERA and 594 Ks during the two seasons, the Swallows finished 4th in the six team Central League in 1959 and 6th (last) in 1960. Kaneda's signature is found at bottom center. Continuing clockwise, we have the autographs of Mitsuo Uno (Mgr.), Hiromitsu Negoro, Yoshio Kitagawa, Shosuke Doi, Zenjiro Tadakoro, Tokuji Iida (HOF) (d.2000), Yukihiko Machida, Kiyoshi Matsuda, Takao Sato, Hiromi Tanida, Genichi Murata, Morimichi Iwashita and Jun Hakota. All autographs are signed in black marker.
