The JDM 22 cards are exceedingly rare, as the set has been given an R5 designation in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition, indicating that three or fewer copies of each card in the set are known. These cards are much scarcer than the more commonly seen 1949 JDM 2 Mask Diecuts. Kozuru is best known for his monster 1950 season in which he batted .355 with 51 homers, 161 RBI and 28 stolen bases, all in a 134 game season! Naturally, he was awarded the league MVP award that year. The Japanese text on the reverse contains Kozuru's surname at the top.
Size: 5 1/8" x 7 9/16".
Condition: The eyes and nose are not punched out, but it appears that the mask was once threaded with a rubber band through the ears, and that a small part of the rubber band dried on the mask. Just above and below the rubber band is a very small amount of paper loss.
