The JF 48 Seiko Gum set contains 30 cards, but only five of the cards depict baseball players. The key card in the set is Shigeo Nagashima. Japan's Mr. Giants and Mr. Baseball, was a rookie that season. The JF 48 set is interesting that each card has a series of "nipples" along the borders, which were used by the manufacturer to more easily remove each card from its printed sheet before inserting single cards into packages of Seiko Gum. Cards from this set are difficult to find. The Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition has designated a scarcity factor of R4 for this card, indicating that fewer than 10 copies are known in the hobby. This is only the second example of this card that we have ever offered at auction in our nearly 30 years in the Japanese baseball card hobby. Blank backed.
