Despite all the hoopla that accompanied Nagashima's rookie season, and all the championships and awards he won, "Mr. Giants" is probably best known for his walk off home run in the first pro baseball game ever attended by the Japanese emperor, Hirohito. This homer was once voted the most memorable sporting performance in Japanese history. Black & white tobacco style menko are generally considered to be scarcer than the color types, as they ultimately proved to be less popular with children than their color counterparts. This card features a nice close-up image of the rookie Nagashima batting.
