Kawakami, the God of Batting and God of Managing just died today as I am writing this description. He was 93 years old. The left hand hitting first baseman was Japan's greatest hitter prior to Sadaharu Oh. He was a five time batting champion and three time MVP. Then he managed the Yomiuri Giants to an astounding nine consecutive Japan Series championships! It is not surprising that during the late 1940s, more different Kawakami cards were manufactured than those of any other player. This lot contains six different representations of the immortal slugger. (top row, left to right) JCM 61 and two uncatalogued cards. (bottom row left to right) JCM 104, JCM 93, JCM 99.

Size: Each card is approximately 1 3/8" x 2 3/4"

Condition: Gd to Vg
