Shigeo Nagashima (HOF - Meikyukai) known as "Mr. Giants" is the most revered player in Japanese baseball history. This rare card from his 2nd season is uncatalogued and very scarce.
Kobai Seika produced Kobai Caramel cards from 1950 until they went bankrupt in June 1954 due pressure by schools and the PTA. In October 1954 the company resumed business as Shin (New) Kobai Seika and continued producing Giants cards until they closed permanently in September 1959. Collectors of this series could redeem the cards for prizes, accounting for their scarcity. This series had an expiration date of December 1960.
