This poster was produced to advertise a lecture organized by the Keio/Waseda Friendship Organization. It is interesting to note that this group existed despite the fierce rivalry between the Keio and Waseda baseball teams on the diamond.
The event was held at Japan Youth Hall on May 26 at 6:00 p.m. (precise year unknown). According to the poster, the lecturers included Hall of Famer Hisashi Koshimoto, an infielder and Keio University graduate who in 1917 led the Big Six University League in batting average. Koshimoto was born in Hawaii and died on April 27, 1935. Also appearing was Atsushi Kono, a star pitcher for Waseda University during the early 20th century, along with renowned Japanese playwright, novelist, and poet Masao Kume.
The event also featured the singing of the Keio and Waseda school songs, performed by the Keio University Mandolin Club. It must have been an evening to remember.
The poster carries a strong baseball theme, with a batter illustrated in the center and numerous Keio and Waseda team banners forming the background.
