All of the Elementary School 1st through Six Year monthly magazines regularly included furoku (bonus items) for purchasers of the issue. This cardboard item was part of the furoku included with the August 1963 issue of Elementary School 5th Year. Apparently, a "pistol type notebook" and a "mascot star cards" must have originally attached to the cardboard item offered here.

This item contains five small, round images of baseball players at the top, and six images of entertainment celebrities along the bottom. The baseball players are (left to right) Shigeo Nagashima, Sadaharu Oh, Masaichi Kaneda, Yukio Ozaki and Katsuya Nomura. The celebrity image, second from left, depicts Kyu Sakamoto, singer of the all time great hit, Sukiyaki, which was a number one record on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. The song was later a U.S. top 10 hit for A Taste of Honey in 1981 and 4 p.m. in 1994. Sadly, Kyu Sakamoto was killed in a plane crash in 1985.
