We are fairly certain that this badge was worn by a dignitary at the 1934 U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan featuring Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. However, we cannot prove this. In our Auction #57 (April 2020), we sold an almost identical item. The Auction #57 version contained an area on the back from which to hang a missing ribbon. The badge offered here is ever so slightly larger, has a pin back, and no place for a ribbon. The only other known example of either badge hangs in the Japan Hall of Fame.  We have asked the people at the Japan Hall of Fame, and, unfortunately, they have no further information about their display.

In any case, the badge with its handsome motif of American and Japanese flags with a baseball in the center is a precious relic of an important prewar series of games.
