Osamu Mihara (1911-1984) was a star second baseman for Waseda U. in the late 1920s and early 1930s. In 1934 he played against Ruth, Gehrig, et al during their Japan Tour. Mihara's managerial career began in 1947. In 1949, he led the Giants to one of their greatest seasons ever. Later, as manager of the Nishitetsu Lions, Mihara won three straight Japan Series titles. He then moved on to the Taiyo Whales, where he won another championship. He retired as a manager with 1,687 victories. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.

This autograph is especially unusual since it is signed in traditional brush pen on a large fan! Mihara has signed is name, Yomiuri Giants and has also written an inscription relating to his having punched catcher Keizo Tsutsui in 1949.
