These cards were included with the April 1963 edition of Elementary School 5th Year magazine. They were issued with perforation lines and nipples so the owner could separate the individual cards. Fronts feature two players, generally from the same team. Backs have Japanese text containing information about the players pictured on the front. The cards were issued in a package with an image of Shigeo Nagashima on the cover. (included in this lot and never before seen).

These rarely seen cards have the designation R5 in Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage edition 3.0 by Gary Engel, which means that five or fewer copies of each card pair are known in the hobby. A whopping 39 Japan Hall of Fame members are included in the lot. Among these HOFers are Sadaharu Oh, Masaichi Kaneda, Shigeo Nagashima, Isao Harimoto, Katsuya Nomura, Kaoru Betto, Tetsuharu Kawakami, and Americans Buddy Peterson, Jack Bloomfield and Mike Solomko.
