Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0 has assigned a scarcity factor of R5 to the JBR 51b set, indicating that five or fewer copies of each card in the set are known. This set consists of beautiful, color bookmark style cards. This second year card of Kaoru Betto, the Gentleman of Baseball, shows the all time great hitter in the midst of one of his classic swings. In 1949, Betto batted .322 with 39 homers and 126 RBIs in a 137 game season. He was named to the league Best 9 team as an outfielder.

JBR 51b cards were issued with a much wider white border at the top than on the other three sides. This card was trimmed at the top by a previous owner to give the card four roughly equal borders. Blank back card.

Size: Approximately 1 7/8" x 4 15/16". Trimmed at the upper border.

Condition: Vg/Ex (trimmed at the top border). Extra paper found on the blank back is the result of the card having been originally issued on a product display sheet. All JBR 51b cards should exhibit similar extra paper on the reverse side.
