According to Japanese Baseball Cards, Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0, cards from the scarce gold border version of JCM 24 Hoshi Gangu are valued at two to five times the price of the regular white bordered cards.

This card depicts the top two third basemen in Japan Pro Baseball at the time. During the 1950s, Nakanishi, a third baseman, was the most feared slugger in the Pacific League. He was rookie of the year in 1952. From 1953 to 1958 he was the league's home run leader in all but one season, and was named league MVP in 1956. Nakanishi (player in foreground) is paired here with Japan's Mr. Giants, Shigeo Nagashima. Mr. Nagashima is more than one of the greatest baseball players in NPB history. He is a true cultural icon. Many Japanese today will still argue that Nagashima was the greatest player ever.

Only four examples of this card have been graded by PSA. This card is 1 of 2 graded PSA 8, with one graded higher (PSA 9).
