Boken Oh (Adventure King) was a boys' adventure magazine. In January 1951, the magazine contained a special New Year's present for subscribers-a karuta set in uncut sheet form featuring all the top baseball stars of the era. There are 19 Japan Hall of Famers in the set including Victor Starffin (Russia), Tetsuharu Kawakami (God of Batting), Bozo Wakabayashi (Hawaii), Atsushi Aramaki, Yoshiyuki Iwamoto, Hisanori Karita, Hiroshi Oshita, Fumio Fujimura (Mr. Tigers), Shigeru Chiba, Haruyasu Nakajima, Hiroshi Nakao, Hideo Fujimoto, Makoto Kozuru, Michio Nishizawa, Shigeru Mizuhara, Kaoru Betto, Takehiko Bessho, Shosei Go (Taiwan) and Juzo Sanada. There are two sheets. One contains the player cards, while the other contains the reading cards.
Size: Each card is 1 9/16" x 1 15/16". The uncut sheets are 10 1/4" x 14 1/4".
Condition: The player card sheet is Ex/Mt. Most cards on the sheet are Nm/Mt and Mint. The reading card sheet has a significant stain. Both sheets have a manufacturer's vertical fold down the center, so that the cards could be placed in the magazine.
