This giant size item was included as a bonus to purchasers of the August 14, 1921 issue of Asahi Graphic Magazine. Because of its size, it was folded by the manufacturer prior to placement with the magazine. In all, there are 10 photos and several ads on the piece, but the two most important photos to most collectors are images of Babe Ruth and Stan Coveleski. Ruth belted a record (at that time) 54 home runs in 1920, and then improved upon that mark with 59 homers in 1921. Coveleski, pitching for the Cleveland Indians, was the hero in the 1920 World Series. In 1921, he won 20+ games for the third consecutive season.
In our 35 years of buying, selling and auctioning Japanese baseball cards and memorabilia, we have never before had the opportunity to auction this item. It is a must have for any Babe Ruth memorabilia collector.
