We are certain that these cards first appeared with an early 1960s edition of Elementary School 1st Year magazine, as they were issued in a small box containing the name of the magazine. However, we do not know the precise year. Based on the other cards in the deck, which include sumo rikishi and entertainers, we feel that 1961 is our best guess for year of issue. There are five baseball players with cards in the set, the most coveted by collectors being the card of Sadaharu Oh offered here.
