Japan Hall of Fame member Hisanori Karita was one of the players who faced the U.S. Major League All Stars led by Lou Gehrig and Lefty Grove during their 1931 Tour of Japan. The JBR 136 cards, produced by an unknown manufacturer, are from the same set as the Toshio Inokawa card of the previous lot. At this time, 20 cards from the set are known, including 10 depicting U.S. Tour members and 10 picturing members of the Japan All Stars. Only three copies of this card are known to exist.

Interestingly, Hisanori Karita also played for the All Japan team that faced Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, et. al. in 1934 as well as in the 1931 Tour. He batted .300 during the 1931 Tour, and .276 during the 1934 Tour. Karita, a second baseman/shortstop, one of the greatest fielders in the history of Japan Pro Baseball, formed half of the "Million Dollar Double Play Combination" in the late 1930s. During his 16 year Japan Pro Baseball career, he was a player/manager during eight seasons.
