This is the first time that we have ever encountered this advertising flyer. It was produced in September 1934, two months before the U.S. All Star Tour of Japan began. The Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper), sponsor of the Tour, published this flyer. We believe that it was found loose in an issue of the newspaper, but we are not certain.

The front side of the flyer contains images of Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx and Connie Mack. The headline text describes Mack as the World's Number One manager, Ruth as the Baseball King and Foxx as the New Home Run King. Beneath each image is the player's biography. There is also text describing the forthcoming U.S. Tour as having even better players than the 1931 Tour. It also touts the Japan All Star team that the Americans will be playing.

The reverse side describes three different forthcoming prizes that will be offered by the newspaper to lucky winners. Only one of the three prizes is sports related, but it is a doozy! Winners will receive signed photos of Ruth, Foxx, or Mack. These large photos are to be half the size of a newspaper page. We don't know if the photos were to contain actual autographs, or if they were going to contain facsimile signatures. However, we do know that we have never seen one. It's possible that these autographed photos were never even produced. There are no instructions for entering a contest on the flyer, so it seems that such a contest was planned for several months into the future.

In any case, this is a super rare item related to the classic 1934 Babe Ruth Tour of Japan. This flyer would rate a special place in any Babe Ruth collection or 1934 Japan Tour collection.
