There are only three examples of this card known in the hobby. Interestingly, the Japanese text at the bottom misidentifies Ferris Fain as Mel Parnell!
Ferris Fain was the leading hitter on the 1951 U.S. Major League All Stars Tour of Japan. He batted .417 with three homers and 14 RBI during the sixteen game Tour while facing Japan's top players. Fain had already won the 1951 American League batting title, and would go on to be a repeat batting A.L. championship winner in 1952. During his nine year Major League career, he had a .290 lifetime batting average.
Fain is most well known, however, for being arrested in1988 when the police found him growing 400 marijuana plants in a barn. He stated at the time that he was as adept at growing marijuana as he was at playing baseball. Blank backed card.
