Juzo Sanada is pictured here in his 1950 Shochiku Robins uniform. 1950 was an incredible year for Sanada, as he won 39 games for the Robins against only 12 defeats. The Robins won the Central League pennant behind Sanada's iron right arm. He pitched in 395 2/3 innings, not including his two outings in the Japan Series. Sanada unsurprisingly received the 1950 Sawamura (Japan Cy Young) Award for his performance and was also named to the Central League Best 9 team.
This card depicts Sanada at the height of his powers. Take a look at that old fashioned glove he is wearing! Only three examples of this card are known in the hobby.
Size: 8" x 10 1/4"
Condition: Fair due to a chip at the upper left border. Still a powerful image. There is extra paper and glue residue on the blank back, as the card was originally sold attached to a product display sheet. All examples of this card should have similar marks of attachment.
