This is the best of auction lots and the worst (or most disappointing) of auction lots. The exciting news is that the majority of these cards have never been seen before, and thus are unchecklisted. Every card in this lot is incredibly rare. The terrible news is that every single card would be in fair or poor condition--if only they didn't all have writing on the back! At least in most cases, the writing on the back consists of the player's name in Japanese and nothing else. We have no idea why a previous owner wrote the names on the backs because, in every instance, the player's name was already printed on the front by the manufacturer.

The five Hall of Famers appearing in this lot are (top row, left to right) Tokuji Iida, Makoto Kozuru, Kazuto Tsuruoka, Hiroshi Oshita and Katsumi Shiraishi. The remaining cards picture a good sampling of players from all the eight teams that participated in the 1949 season of Japan Pro Baseball.

Size: Each card is 1 1/16" x 1 7/16"

Condition: All cards are Authentic/altered. They are altered only in that they all have handwriting added to the back by a previous owner. If not for this added text, etc., all cards would grade either Fair or Poor.
