We have never before seen this bromide which depicts Takeo Tabe leaping high in the air to catch a fly ball in the trees. Tabe attended Meiji University from 1928 to 1932, so the bromide must have been printed during this period. Tabe's surname, school name and "H.S.P. No 94" (an unknown code) are all printed near the bottom.

A player blessed with tremendous speed, a strong arm, and a great baseball mind, Tabe played all over the diamond at Meiji University. After graduation, he joined the Dai Nippon Tokyo team, the precursor of the Yomiuri Giants, for their 110 game barnstorming tour of the U.S. He stole a remarkable 105 bases on the Tour. However, Tabe quit the team prior to the Giants' joining Japan Pro Baseball due to perceived poor treatment. He later joined Japan's war effort and was killed in Okinawa in 1945.

Blank backed card.

Size: 3 3/8" x 5 3/8"

Condition: The card would be Ex/Mt to Nm, if not for faint marks in the corners which are evidence that the card was once placed in photo mounts.
