This item was a "furoku" or bonus book given to purchasers of the May 1951 issue of Shonen Club (Youth Club) magazine. The hardbound book has an unusual diecut design. Victor Starffin is on the front cover, and Hideo Fujimoto (HOF) is on the back cover. Each inside page is devoted to one of the game's great stars, with a large, round player portrait and player information. HOFers profiled inside include Fumio Fujimura (Mr. Tigers), Makoto Kozuru (single season RBI record), Tetsuharu Kawakami (God of Batting), Hiroshi Oshita (Kawakami's rival), Juzo Sanada, Atsushi Aramaki, Takehiko Bessho, Shigeru Chiba and Kaoru Betto. Also included within a pouch located on the inside back cover are an umpire's ball and strike counter and a small autograph book. We have never before found this book with the ball-strike counter included. We have only rarely seen the autograph book, Japanese text.
