Despite the date of 11/11/56 on the ticket, the game was actually played on November 12th, due to a rainout. The game proved to be worth the wait. The Dodgers pounded the All Japan team by a score of 10-2, with Roger Craig beating
Hall of Famer Masaichi Kaneda. Gil Hodges, Roy Campanella and Pee Wee Reese homered for the Dodgers, while HOFer Futoshi Nakanishi hit one out as well. But the real story is that the game featured the last home run ever hit by
Jackie Robinson as a Brooklyn Dodger. Robinson retired following the 1956 season.
