When Sadaharu Oh signed with the Yomiuri Giants out of high school, people wondered whether he would be used as a first baseman or pitcher, as he had excelled on the mound as a schoolboy. This early season issue depicts him as a pitcher. Fortunately for the Giants, they decided before the regular season began to deploy him strictly as a first baseman.

Size: 1 3/4" x 2 7/8". JCM 14b cards are normally 1 13/16" x 3". All four borders of this example are thinner than normal. Many of these cards were originally handcut by the manufacturer, while others were machine cut. Therefore, it is unknown whether this example was originally issued in this smaller form, or whether it was later trimmed by a collector.
